Unfortunately that's the only positive aspect about it. What happens then is, that you get your mailbox filled with hundreds of autoresponder messages, thanks for submitting to my FFA page...yadayadayada...and btw I have this incredible opportunity for you to make $5000 per week... And I MEAN hundreds! It is hardly possible to filter out your normal mail between all this brainless trash. So if you still think, you need this "traffic generator" for anything, take my advice and get a free hotmail email account first, where no usable mail arrives. You can later delete the garbage with one click or just cancel the whole account after using it for this purpose. Actually you can buy a membership for these pages and set up dozens of them...all only for the purpose to send out these little information mails. And beware, "this is not spam!" You asked for it by submitting your site. Most of these page speak of themselves as "high traffic sites". Know what? They are high traffic sites. Unfortunately the traffic on these sites usually recruits itself of fools like you and me, that submit their links to these pages. I seriously doubt any normal surfers looking for information, ever use them. Why should they... there are hundreds of better information tools on the web than a listing of 500 dysfunctional business opportunities, or why should they click on the same crap that they receive by email daily anywise.
When I did my submission to these hundreds of pages, I really received 11 hits the next day that came from these link pages - mostly 3 in a row from the same one, either a robot that checked the links or the siteowner himself preparing to send another email. From day two on , it was completely dead again, as if nothing had ever happened (except for the tons of mails that were still coming to my mailbox...) Please note, this is talking of automatically generated links pages, which are part of the FFA submit system only. Private maintained linkpages, that are really part of a webpage and not just a stand-alone spam generator, even if they are self-submit pages, are something else!!! Anyway - I had my lesson...FFA stands for keep me Free From All links....
